This article details research that has begun with the Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) and ANU into the development of heat-tolerant crop genetics, and identifying what it is that makes crops able to survive, grow and continue to produce under high-temperature conditions. Pigeonpea is a potential crop that may be added to the mix of Australia’s agricultural production, due to its ability to beat the heat.
