Trialling tidal gates at Swansea

Swansea is a picturesque town perched on the edge of Lake Macquarie, the largest coastal saltwater lake in the Southern Hemisphere. Tidal inundation is already a challenge for the town and predicted sea level rises are expected to increase the impact of high tides. Lake Macquarie City Council is trialling three tidal gates to determine which would best protect low-lying assets from current and future tidal inundation, storm surges and extreme weather events in the face of a changing climate.
