Yarra Council is working to take measures under the Building Regulations and through a formal planning scheme amendment to ensure construction conducted in the City of Yarra is resilient to the effect of flooding and rising water levels. This work created maps in partnership with Melbourne Water, guided by best practice design, benchmarked against methodology undertaken by other Councils and supported by the community’s experience during a consultation in July and August 2023.
